As my wedding draws near, I found myself reflecting on one of the most exciting portions of the “wedding chores”; Wedding Dress shopping. I know the experts tell you not to go with an entourage, and “Say Yes to the Dress” tells you the fewer people the better. I, on the other hand, welcomed the presence and opinions of a group of people (up to 6 at a time) Bridesmaids, my mother, family friend and others. I know myself, and no one’s opinion would sway my own enough to make a difference. So entourage in tow, we did the tour of the NYC Wedding Dress “scene”. From Kleinfeld’s to Vera Wang, I tried on almost every dress imaginable until I found the right one…

Walking into her store, I thought I would find my dress here. No, I knew. I was positive based on the tons of images I hadseen on wedding blogs and in magazines that Vera’s dresses were my “style”. They were gorgeous….
Some were bigger
Some were plain(ish)
Some were almost the dress… (ignore my face, really…)

That dress was gorgeous and I have subsequently seen it on many beautiful brides, it was just not right for me. Although I thought Vera Wang would undoubtedly have my dream dress, I ended up buying my dress at Saks from a designer that really caught me off guard; Carolina Herrera. Her timeless yet still modern dresses just fit my aesthetic for the wedding and gave me the “this is my dress!” feeling every bride covets. I can’t wait for Anthony to capture my dress and my wedding in about two short weeks!
